Bathrooms on CSA common grounds will not be open for use this summer of 2020. We had hoped to make the bathroom at the Crystal View available, but we are unable to meet the stringent cleaning requirements set by the CDC and the local health department to keep us safe from this deadly virus. We understand this is an inconvenience, but our primary focus must be the long-term safety and well-being of our CSA community and the surrounding communities.
As a community-based facility, the CSA must be diligent in our efforts to follow precautions set forth by the CDC and local health department to do our part in reducing the potential spread of COVID-19. This includes frequent cleaning, at regular intervals, multiple times each day with an EPA-approved disinfectant of all “high touch surfaces” throughout facilities if they are open for use. Ideally, such cleaning of “high touch surfaces” (light switches, toilets, faucets, countertops, door knobs) would occur between each and every person who uses the facility, followed by a waiting period for the disinfectant to take full effect. In addition, PPE must be provided for those cleaning the facilities with such products, according to the CDC.
The CSA is not employing maintenance workers this summer, and volunteers although appreciated, may or may not be consistent in offering the cleaning that needs to be done to prevent transmission of this disease. Due to the highly transmissible nature of COVID-19, the fact that many who have it do not realize they have it, and employing no staff to properly train and execute adequate cleaning protocols, we will adhere to the recommendations from the CDC and department of health for our organization at this time.
Thank you for your understanding in this matter. We wish you a safe and healthy summer and look forward to offering full services in the future.
