The New Third Coast will return by popular demand for the Dutton Concert on Friday, July 10 at 6:30 on the ballfield.
New Third Coast is a trio of musicians who come together to deliver a unique Power Folk, Leelanau County style sound. Their strong three-part harmonies, combined with diverse instrumental musical expression, have created a large following throughout Northwestern Lower Michigan and beyond. The trio includes Patrick Niemisto on bass, fiddle, mandolin, and guitar, John Kumjian on guitar, harmonica, piano, and bass, and Bryan Poirier on guitar. All three are songwriters and their work is celebrated as eclectic and refreshing in content and delivery. Bring your beach chairs and blankets and some snacks to munch on. Dancing on the grass is encouraged!
The Kodak string quartet plays the Burrows-Getz concert on Saturday, July 25 at 7:30 in the Meeting House.
The award-winning string quartet, Kodak Quartet, is setting the world on fire with their passionate and energetic playing. They are highly regarded for their work with contemporary composers and for presenting traditional works with a contemporary flavor. Kodak's members hail from the US, Canada and France. They formed in Rochester, New York while attending the Eastman School of Music and are currently based in New York, NY.
Pierce Kagari Emata, pianist, will return to the Meeting House for the Armstrong concert this summer on Saturday, August 1 at 7:30.
Across the United States and abroad, in addition to traditional solo concert and orchestral appearances, Mr. Emata is well known for his innovative and entertaining commentary-concerts, trademarked and titled Concerts & Conversation. These presentations bring audiences closer to the artist, his personal experiences, the music, and the personal lives of various composers by including commentaries at various levels with a solo concert. These performances have also been broadcast on National Public Radio affiliates in various states.
